5 Must Have Resources For Your Mom Blog

This post may contain affiliate links where I receive a small profit if you sign up with them. Below is my honest reviews of each  website.

I’ve recently dove head first into the beautiful and crazy world of blogging. I did loads of research prior to my launch, yet no one seemed to mention these resources that have been an amazing help to my blog! I’m just a few weeks in, but here are my top 5 must have resources for your mom blog! (Or any blog)

1. Host Gator

I have had butt loads of people attempt to drive me to host with Siteground. I have not personally tried them, but I started with Host Gator and I LOVE them! The minute issues I have ran into were fixed in a timely manner. They are also pretty cheap in my opinion!

2. IvoryMix

I stumbled upon Ivory Mix on Pinterest. Let me tell you she has some amazing stock photos! You can sign up and gain access to a huge library of free stock photos. If you want some of her other goodies, there is a price to pay (super affordable). What I love most about Ivory Mix is SHE RESPONDS TO YOUR E-MAILS! She makes me feel top of the line important every time I check my inbox and find a reply from her.

3. Start A Mom Blog

This is yet another pinterest find (don’t we find everything there now-a-days?) that I am extremely pleased with. I recently attended a webinar she hosted with Convert Kit. You can say this was my first near face to face experience I had with her. Let me tell you this woman is jam packed full of information for moms looking to start a blog! A quick visit to her site at Start A Mom Blog and you will see exactly what I am talking about.

4. Convert Kit

I think we have all tried the mail chimp train. For some, it may be for them. I am not as tech savvy as I used to be and Convert Kit understands that. Everything is easy to use and there is a plug in for wordpress!  You can create different sign up forms and many different chains of e-mails for each individual pop-up form. Let’s say you are selling a product, when someone purchases said product, you can set it up so that the purchase triggers them into a different chain (sequence) of e-mails. To top it off, their customer service is the bomb.com. When I send in a question I receive several responses from their support team. They have a ton of video tutorials to help you along the way. Convert Kit basically holds your hand through e-mail marketing!

5.  Yoast SEO

I was hesitant to add this in to my top 5. I am not entirely sure if it is considered a “resource”, but if you have a blog, you need this plug-in! SEO stand for search engine optimization. <– Did you just ask what the heck is that? I did too at first. Quite a bit of research later and I can tell you that the better your SEO the   you are more likely to wind up on the front page of  Google.  To give you an example, if you were to type in 9 Things You Don’t Want To Hear About Breastfeeding into a google search, you would find my post on the front page via pinterest (go pinterest, go pinterest). How awesome sauce is that?!

With a handy plugin for wordpress, there is absolutely no reason you should not have it installed and activated.  I feel this is a MUST have for any blog!

Alright, I feel as though I need to leave you with one more impeccable resource.

6. Pinterest

If you don’t master any other social media, master pinterest! It is literally a search engine for blogs! If you were to redecorate your home, bet you head to pinterest! Looking for that banging kid friendly dinner recipe, you head to pinterest! It only makes sense to utilize this to promote your blog and gain followers and subscribers!

That’s all for now! There are loads of resources that could be in my top 5 resources, but these (6) made the list!

If you blog, what are your top 5 resources? Which websites and tools do you utilize the most?

  1. Thanks for this. I will check out the convert kit. I’m looking for a better way to collect emails and manage them. Thanks

    1. With convert kit they also give you the ability to link to other platforms!!! Such as mail chimp and platforms where you can sell your items!

  2. I love Yoast, ever since I came to WordPress it became a lifesaver and it literally maximized my views as well . You are doing very well, keep up the good work x

  3. Such a great post for those who are getting started .. as well as those who’ve been doing it a while. Always love to hear tips from other bloggers. You’re so right about Yoast and Pinterest. Definitely two to spend time setting up and using to their fullest potential!

    1. I’ve had a pinterest account for a while and plan to switch to a business account later on. I’ve thought of investing into board booster as well!

  4. I am thinking about changing to Convert Kit, too. Mailchimp is very frustrating to first timers and not so techy like me. And of course, Pinterest is something every blogger needs! I actually spend more time on it than FB (unless I promote my blogs). But yes, if you want to look for blogs, this is the best search engine. Thanks for the insights!

    1. I looooove Convert kit. It is a game changer in e-mail marketing!! I’ve also never seem better customer service before anywhere!

  5. It’s really important that you find a good hosting site, especially if you’re serious about blogging. These are awesome resources and I’ve used some of them.

    1. So far, I like who I’m with. I almost went with Site ground since they have good reviews as well!

  6. I need to optimize my Pinterest. I heard and read a lot about how Pinteres could increase your blog view, and now you convince me even more. Thanks for sharing these great resources.

    1. Pinterest is basically a search engine for blogs! Eventually I will convert to a business account, but for now I do what I can with what I have. A good chunk of my views stem from Pinterest!

  7. Thanks for this, it has given me the kick up the arse that I have been craving, espcially when it comes to Pinterest, which I have totally neglected by the way!

    1. Pinterest is extremely important to a blog! I wouldn’t say the most important aspect, but most of my followers come from pinterest! ! I’m glad this helped you (:

  8. Great tips here. I am not very good at this technical end of promoting my blog and I am losing out because of it. The yoast plug in seems great. Need to get it.

    1. I’ve had a few people come to me wanting me to do the promotion side since I am home more than they are. Not a bad idea. I read somewhere that if it takes you an hour to work on a blog post, you should spend 4 hours promoting it. Not all at once of course
